First Day as President

It's my first and very humble day as our club's president. So with this, just a friendly reminder that on July 10th at the Ala Moana Hotel is our District's New Governor Installation and Club Recognition. Registration begins at 9am and the actual installation is closer to 1:30pm. Details can be found here: http://district5000.clubwizard.com/IMUpload/Salute.pdf

Mahalo President Carolyn

Honolulu Sunrise celebrated the close of Carolyn Hiatt’s term as president with a sounding rendition of “Teacher’s Pet” by Doris Day. (Carolyn is a 5th grade technology teacher at Le Jardin Academy.)

Inspiration was provided by Rev. Kyle Lovette. President-Elect Paul Sibley announced the Relay for Life coming up in July. Mei Nakamoto congratulated our second Rotary Youth Scholarship finalist, Haley Esaki, also from Mid-Pacific Institute. Haley will be attending Chapman University in Los Angeles. Pearl Harbor Rotarian Ken Brown brought President Carolyn a USC Trojans baseball cap in a friendly rivalry. Congratulations to Amin Leiman for receiving his Paul Harris Award. Go Amin!

The impact of this Rotary year was evident when President Carolyn thanked her board and supporters, which numbered over a third of the club. In return, club members took turns giving President Carolyn an apple for the teacher along with their thanks. Assistant DG Del Green and former members Joey Char and Linda Dias joined us to honor President Carolyn.

President Carolyn’s most memorable moment? Seeing Joe Rice, President of Mid-Pacific Institute, wearing a Le Jardin nametag.

President Elect Test Post

Just testing out the new blog pushing ability to our wonderful website. Carolyn is almost a past president, and I am a couple days closer to becoming president of what is most likely the greatest group of people I've ever met.
