We'll miss you Bill

Our good friend and fellow Rotarian Bill Anderson lost his battle with cancer and pneumonia late last night. His body was weakened by the bone cancer and despite his courageous will to live it overtook his body.

He was so happy to see all the notes of good wishes that you all wrote to him on Monday. Bill was such a wonderful guy that did so much for others and wanted to do so much more. He was a wonderful husband, father and a great friend to many and a true Rotarian in every sense of the word. May he rest in peace. Services will be held next week Tuesday or Wednesday. Details to come.

Volunteers needed for Relay for Life this Saturday, July 24

Support President Paul Sibley, co-chair of the Kailua-Kaneohe Relay for Life.

Volunteers are needed for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life this Saturday, July 24. The event begins at 5:00PM at the Kailua High School with a survivor dinner, and really kicks off with our opening ceremony at 6:00 PM then goes all night long with food, dancing, Zumba and more.

How can you help? We can use Rotarians to volunteer with setup and logistical support. If interested, please show up by 4:00 PM to assist with setup. Report to the Registration Tent where all volunteers will be coordinated and let them know you are with the Rotary Club of Honolulu Sunrise.

While you’re there, support the cause by purchasing items from the Relay Boutique Store and food from the team tents. Donations are also welcome at the Finance tent. Our club has already donated $250.

Today PP Carolyn Hiatt congratulated Dawn Soderquist Okano with the Rotary International Four Avenues of Service Award for her outstanding club service, community service, vocational service and international service. As Carolyn said, whatever we did, Dawn was there. Congratulations Dawn!

Mahalo to Speaker Bob Hogue

Honolulu Sunrise started the morning with a rousing rendition of Roy Orbosin's Pretty Woman thanks to Jerry Hofwolt. Reverend Kyle Lovette provided the inspiration. We were pleased to have two guests: Bettie Bernie's friend, Jack Balentine from Napa Valley and potential member, Rashmi Agrahari from Nepal, who is currently pursuing her masters at HPU. Today's guest speaker was veteran sportscaster, former Representative and author, Bob Hogue.
